Community Meeting Minutes, June 29, 2025

  1.  Check in and reflection on our ten years at Turner
  2. Board report – Dennis read a statement from Yair who was absent (see attached)
  3. Treasurer’s report – Dennis
    1. Jon Aaron Retreat-  the ledger of expenses was reviewed, we essentially broke even. Receivables = $19,863. Payables = $19,760.
      Gratitude was extended to Carol Blotter for working with Dennis to streamline the finances and accounting for retreats. They created a process for managing retreat funds going forward.
    2. Still Mountain accounts – report on each of our bank accounts (checking, savings, retreat, retreat scholarship) was shared along with Venmo and PayPal. Total in all accounts is currently $20,685. See attached Treasurer Report.  We are in roughly the same financial situation as in June 2024.
    3. Budget – our first half income was more than we expected, and expenses were also more than expected. Budgeted projection for the main checking account was $5950. Actual balance is $6396.
    4. Several sangha members expressed gratitude to Dennis for all the work he has been doing on Still Mountain’s finances, for creating a budget, and for such detailed and accurate tracking of SM funds.
  4. Teacher Council report – Ken
    1. The six week, collaborative yoga-meditation class has finished and went well. May be offered again.
    2. Teachers are continuing monthly zoom gatherings under the revised title “Dharma in Difficult Times”. Meetings are on the last Wednesday of the month. All are welcome.
    3. Bilha’s on-line Tuesday class continues and is currently working with the Paramitas
    4. Monday night zoom meetings, led by Karen, Curt and Hugh are continuing (1st & 3rd Mondays each month). This ongoing offering consists of sitting, sharing and discussing. Open to everyone.
    5. Tuesday morning sit (6:30- 7:15) continues, and is followed by informal sharing and socializing 
    6. Saturday morning sit (8:00- 8:30) continues
    7. Planned retreat – an in-person, weekend retreat will led by Dawn Scott, March 27-27, 2026 at Maryville Retreat Center, Holly MI
    8. Teachers are discussing a day long retreat for Fall 2025
  5. Tech Team report – Phyllis
    1. There are some changes in our technology in the new space (Harmony in Motion, Ann Arbor). Zoom for our hybrid Sunday Sit will be done with a projector and a pull-down screen.
    2. Efforts continue to keep the SM website calendar current
  6. The Move ……. From Turner to Harmony
    1. Managing our stuff:  who and what.
      Dennis- will move the tech equipment.
      Elizabeth – will store the books from David’s Library.
      Jim MacBain – will store the bookshelf until its needed again.
      Erica – will move and store the social stuff (paper plates, snacks, etc).
      Dennis – will move pillows, blankets, dana basket, bell, etc.
      Judi P – will deliver the projection screen.
    2. Sunday June 6, next week, will be our first week at Harmony. Yair will provide further communication and coordinate the move, including details on what’s needed and a timetable. Some people will arrive early to set up the space. We have a key. We have (limited) storage for our new chairs and the things we use each Sunday. 
  7. Set -Up Committee – Mariko
    1. current members: Mariko, Ken M, Karen, Alex, Dorothyann
    2. Need to arrive at Harmony by 9:30 on Sundays. Tech person will let you in.
    3. Changes – some people are stepping away from this group so new volunteers are needed for Sunday Set-up. We also need to establish a pool of people to back up the regulars. Please consider volunteering. 
  8. Last Hurrah at Turner – Please stay for the Social Gathering Pot-Luck immediately following this meeting in the lobby.
